| Welcome to my Florida Spiders website. This site could be used as an identification guide, however it's a far cry from being complete. It's more a collection of photos I've taken around my home in Bradford County and several other locations throughout this wonderful state. The photos are sorted into groups. Included with photos are common names and scientific names, along with some interesting information. There's an abundance of spiders found in Florida, about 900 species! Most of you will be happy to know the majority of them live outdoors, away from our homes. Experts say only about 20 species live in or around our homes...isn't that great! I'll make mention of those where necessary. Just remember, spiders are beneficial and have a place in the ecosystem they live in. They eat all kinds of insects and other creepy crawly things as well. If you're curious as to what kind of spider you've found in your backyard, click on any of the groups I've listed to the left and enjoy your search. Click on the image to view high resolution image.
