Research has shown there is no breeding population of Recluse spiders in Florida.
However, three species have been collected.

    They are:
  • Brown recluse
  • Mediterranean recluse
  • Chilean recluse

Venom is cytotoxic (having a toxic effect on cells) and is known to be necrotic -
meaning, the bite causes severe damage to the skin and surrounding tissue (which
can die) and may take a long time to heal.

Other symptoms may be:
  • Headache
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Joint stiffness
  • High fever and
  • Even kidney failure if left untreated
